Alleged gun runner indicted in Troy

A man who police say traveled from Georgia to Troy to sell illegal handguns was indicted on eight felony counts Friday. Alfonso Pettigrew , 25, of Lilburn, Ga., was indicted on four counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and three counts of third-degree criminal sale of a firearm, according to the indictment handed up before Supreme Court Judge George B. Ceresia, Jr. Rensselaer County Sheriff's deputies said they got a tip that Pettigrew was to allegedly sell the pistols to someone at Hudson Valley Plaza on Route 4 on Aug. 1 and he did not have a New York pistol permit.

Keith Gorman held on to second place in the Democratic primary for City Court judge ensuring he will appear on the November ballot. After the Rensselaer County Board of Elections counted the absentee ballots Friday, Gorman defeated Corporation Counsel Ian Silverman 709 to 686.

N.Y. primary election yields low voter turnout

The New York State Board of Elections collected results from the primary election at late hours Tuesday night following a 9 p.m. statewide poll closing. Results will shape the political landscape leading up to the state and local general midterm elections on Tuesday, Nov. 4. An insurgent slate of judicial delegates appeared to have won at least half the primaries they waged against the Albany County Democratic Committee Tuesday in their bid to hand the party's nomination for state Supreme Court to Margaret "Peggy" Walsh, according to unofficial results. Delegates loyal to Walsh, an Albany County Family Court judge, appeared to have won either 16 or 17 of the 30 primaries against party-backed delegate candidates, according to unofficial tallies in Albany and Rensselaer counties.

Guilty plea for David Cassidy in Schodack Town Court

Cassidy was supposed to go before a judge in July for his August 2013 DWI arrest but was instead seen judging a bocce ball contest at the Saratoga Race Course. Cassidy's lawyer said the picture wasn't the reason for the case being adjourned and that Cassidy was allowed to travel at the time.
