The family of the two people killed in last summer's crash involving a New Ulm police officer will file a civil suit against the officer and the City of New Ulm.

The Minnesota State Patrol's investigation of the accident involving a New Ulm squad car last July 8 indicates Police Officer Matthew Rasmussen was trying to catch up to a speeding car on North Garden Street when Myra Meyer, 82, turned in front of him into the driveway of the Garden Terrace Apartments.

A Brown County grand jury heard evidence this week in the fatal July traffic accident involving a New Ulm police officer, and has returned a "no-bill," or no indictment against the officer involved, Officer Matthew Rasmussen.
