TROY, Alabama -- The conviction of a Troy man believed to have raped two women in the Hunter's Mountain Mobile Home Park in Pike County has been overturned.

Dr. Max H. Bass was born in Pike County, Ala. and grew up in Troy. He received his BS degree from Troy University and his MS and PhD from Auburn University.

Early morning thunderstorms led to a wet day, followed by gusty winds, for residents of Alabama's Pike County Sunday.

<![CDATA[TROY, Ala. (AP) -- A Troy man has been sentenced to 85 years in prison for two rapes authorities say happened on the same day. Assistant Pike County District Attorney Chris Kaminski tells the Dothan Eagle (http://bit.ly/YJmGkX ) 36-year-old Andre Lamon Ellis III was sentenced Wednesday on two counts of rape and one count of burglary. The man was convicted of all three charges in January. Authorities say Ellis broke into a woman's house in a mobile home park and assaulted her in March 2012. Officials say later that day, he raped a woman who was in the area visiting a relative. Kaminski says prosecutors asked for a life sentence without parole. The man's attorney, Jon Taylor, says the defense asked for a reasonable sentence and has filed a request for a new trial.
