Applications now being accepted for Piatt judgeship
Illinois Supreme Court Justice Rita Garman is now accepting applications for the circuit judgeship being vacated this summer by Piatt County Judge John Shonkwiler.
Mahomet man reported injured in rural crash
According to a state police report, Tyler R. Barger, 27, of Mahomet was driving a 2003 Chrysler Concorde east on U.S. 150 about a half-mile west of Piatt County Road 900 E at 11:17 a.m. Wednesday when the vehicle left the road to the south, swerved back across the road, struck a guardrail and landed in a ditch on the north side of the road.

Circuit Judge Dan L. Flannell said on Monday evening that Shonkwiler entered an administrative order Friday afternoon to take an extended sick leave, effective immediately, due to surgery he received on Monday morning.
