The only thing that is gonna change him is a long prison term. He obviously wasn't concerned enought with his first arrest.

When he gets out of prison, he will still be addicted. Addiction is a disease and needs to be treated. Putting Mr. Garcia back in prison will transfer more of our tax money into the pockets of the prison industry.

I agree it's a disease, but since you have to lie, cheat, and steal with a violent streak in you until you want treatment; the rest of us is paying for it one way or another. So if jail isn't the answer - how about an island somewhere you speed until you die or want to get clean and sober. The irony of it all, sobriety is available right here and it's free. And it works.... In the meantime my medicare is going down the tubes.... What a crock

I guess people "addicted" to kiddie porn should get a free pass too? I mean it's not their fault they're perverts. Treatment costs money too, just like prison. They only difference is that people in treatment need to want to be there. Prison is where you send people who obviously don't care, like this repeat offender. I conclude he doesn't care by his other than contrite attitude, i.e., the fact that he was fighting cops to get away.

Addiction is a medical disease, addicts have families who love them and desperately want to get them help. Prison isn't the answer, rehabilitaion from the drugs is the only answer. The judicial system doesn't help addicts, they send them to prison where they get more drugs. Robert is loved by his family who is dealing with heartache. He is a lost soul right now but with his families love and support he will be saved somehow, someway from this disease that tortures him. So, while all of you see him as worthless, his family sees a person with value and worthy of saving. God will save this lost child.

Hey gruff, stick it in your arse! Everyone has their opinion, just like Gods messenger and it is not your job to judge them. Additiction is as disease, but that doesn't mean I feel sorry for this man. He had a choice to start using.
As far as prison; this may be the best place for him to receive treatment. Yes, no matter what some of you think, there are drug treatment programs in the Criminal Justice system. I challange anyone to show me different. This programs are run on a inmate volundary basis. It will take support form his family to recover from an addiction, just like it would for anyone who is addicted.

And on the other hand if it were legal then our prisons would not be overloaded with people who get caught getting high. same principal as drunk driving. keep the stuff out of our cars and in the privacy of our own homes.

Robert is my brother and he isn't crap. I hope and pray that you will never have to deal with the heartache of an addicted family member. Addicts do deserve and need help. You wouldn't let your family member die of cancer or heart disease by not getting them medical care would you? An addict needs help too, as I stated, addiction is a recognized medical disease. So go to ---- for the comments you made.

It makes more sense to argue with yourself, because you will at least get intelligent replies.
