The first thing you notice when you walk into the new Pathways in Technology Early College High School - or P-TECH program spaces at Jansen Avenue School - is the colors. It's not drab, for sure.

Authorities continue to withhold name of man arrested in Tipp Hill drug investigation

Onondaga County sheriff's deputies have still not released the name of a man arrested Wednesday evening as part of a drug-related investigation in Syracuse's Tipperary Hill neighborhood. The man's arrest at Oompa's of Tipperary Hill, 500 Ulster St., around 6:15 p.m. was part of an ongoing drug investigation, Deputy Herb Wiggins said.

Two Onondaga County children sick with virus sweeping through Midwest

Two young children in Onondaga County have enterovirus D68, the same respiratory virus that has been sickening hundreds of children in the Midwest. Dr. Quoc Nguyen, the Onondaga County Health Department's medical director, said both children were hospitalized.

Enterovirus Discovered In Onondaga COunty

A virus that has swept across the country affecting mostly children has now made it's way into onondaga county. County health officials say there are two confirmed cases of what's known as Enterovirus D-68.

Man charged in Dunkin' Donut armed robbery in Baldwinsville

A man had been charged with robbing a Dunkin' Donuts at knife-point, the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office said Friday. The sheriff's office said Perl walked into the Dunkin' Donuts at 34 E. Genesee St. around 8:40 p.m. Sunday, threatened an employee with a knife and demanded money.

Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh reports that sheriff detectives arrested a Town of Clay man yesterday for possession and promotion a sexual performance by a child. At about 10:30 AM yesterday morning, sheriff detectives assigned to the ICAC Task Force arrested58 year old Karl Yackel of 5352 Strawflower Drive in the Town of Clay for Promoting a sexual Performance by a Child and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child .

Liverpool firefighters responding to house fire

Firefighters and sheriff's deputies responded to a neighbor's 911 call at 9:50 a.m., according to the Onondaga County 911 Dispatch Center. The neighbor reported that there were flames coming from the house, on the 200 block of Avon Avenue, a dead end.

Alleged brutality victim sues Syracuse police one day after D.A. drops charges

One day after Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick dropped all charges against an alleged police brutality victim, the City of Syracuse received notice Thursday that it is being sued in state and federal courts. 53 year old Alonzo Grant claims he was severely beaten by two Syracuse Police officers on June 28, 2014 when he called them to his Hudson Street home to quell a dispute between his daughter and a neighbor.

Harvest moon: Officially, it's gone. Then again, in a sense, it's still there.

Technically, the harvest moon is over. As Raymond Dague of the Syracuse Astronomical Society points out, the true harvest moon - which "burns like a searchlight," as he puts it - rose Monday at 9:38 p.m. over Syracuse and Onondaga County.

Charges dropped against Syracuse man left bloodied by cops during arrest

A Syracuse man who claims police brutality had all charges against him dropped today by the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office. Alonzo Grant, 53, complains that Syracuse police left him bloodied after arresting him on false charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and harassment in a June 28 confrontation at his 105 Hudson St. residence.

Trial Underway For Man Accused Of Killing His Wife

The Daily Star of Oneonta reports the Onondaga County medical examiner testified Tuesday that Jennifer Renz Ramsaran's death was a homicide and she apparently had been hit in the head before she died. The naked, frozen body of the 36-year-old mother of three was found off a rural road in the Chenango County town of Pharsalia in February 2013.
