Massey Says Mine That Had Fatal Fire Wins Safety Award

The federal Mine Safety and Health Administration plans to give a safety award to a Massey Energy Co. via Canadian Business Magazine

Couple of points :
1] Perhaps OIG should be asked to audit the records relating to this Safety Award; 2] What the hell is MSHA doing wasting there time giving out "safety awards? They have no business in that - they are the enforcers - leave awards to mining associations, etc 3] Instead of dillydally with Don and the Messey they should be taking them to court or shutting down the mine[s] until they pay their fines plus accrued interest . 4] OIG should perhaps investigate the goings-on of MSHA . Perhaps they need to be cleansed . |

Sleibhin look up the critria for receiving this award. If I am not mistaken a mine that has had a fatal accident withing a set numbers of years cannot receive the award. Check to see if I am right. Check part 50 cfr on the MSHA web page. Looks like a made up piece of work don't it.
