Judgea s action in Baisden case not bas...

The new prison reporting date for Mingo Commissioner David Baisden is after the primary election in May. There is no way I think legendary District Court Judge John T. Copenhaver Jr would make a political decision on the bench, so I don't join those who suspect something amiss.

Rahall announces funding for water projects in Mingo, Wayne counties

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va., announced Tuesday the award of more than $1.4 million in federal grant monies from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development for water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Mingo and Wayne counties.

Former prosecutor's sentencing postponed until June

According to information released Tuesday by the U.S. Attorney's office, the sentencing of former Mingo County Prosecuting Attorney Michael Sparks, which had been set for Thursday, has been pushed back until June 16. White files lawsuit against former Mingo Co. officials

A lawsuit has been filed in Mingo County Circuit County by the former defendant whose felony drug conviction was dismissed after county officials admitted in federal court to tampering with his case.

Delbarton businessman running for school board

Robbie Adams, a Delbarton resident who owns and operates a heating and cooling business, is a nonpartisan candidate for the Mingo County Board of Education seat that he was appointed to fill following the resignation of Mike Carter, who gave up his board seat to accept an appointment to the county commission.

Ragland Crime Watch group organizes community cleanup

The group had a great day weather-wise with temperatures in the mid-80s. They picked up litter and garbage along the roadway and creek bank.
