Three scams are at work in area

Three unrelated scams have been recently detected in the area - the unauthorized takeover of a local business owner's email, a scam that involves real-looking checks sent to residents, who are being asked to act as "mystery shoppers," and a Facebook scam that attempts to obtain users' passwords.

$1.75 million settlement reached in lawsuit over Meeker County jail policies

Meeker County's former practice of strip-searching and sometimes photographing private body parts of all newly arrested people as they were booked into jail will cost the Minnesota Counties Insurance Trust $1.75 million.
