Russell Stover store closes down

Russell Stover's candy outlet store closed its doors for good on Oct. 27. Although the 30-year candy factory has been closed since April 2000, the store remained open but was not making much money Marion County Economic Development Commission Director Rodney Berry said during a monthly meeting held this past week.

12th Circuit traffic enforcement effort to kick off this month

The Florence County Sheriff's Office and the other law enforcement agencies located and operating in the 12th Judicial Circuit, consisting of Florence and Marion counties, will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Florence County Law Enforcement Center in Effingham to coordinate traffic enforcement efforts for the coming year.
