After learning of the impending closure of the Marengo County Technology Center, city and county leaders are preparing for a pair of holes to the business landscape of the county's seat.

The Demopolis Board of Education accepted Tangle's resignation Wednesday, clearing the way for him to accept the position as principal at Saraland Elementary School.

The Alabama Department of Education has granted the Demopolis City and Marengo County School Systems their request to be removed from the consortia agreement of the Marengo County Technology Center .

The jobless rate continues to drop in Marengo County, falling .7 points in the past month to settle at 8.6 percent for the month of April.
