SILVER CITY >> Two men escaped from the Grant County Detention Center sometime between 9 and 10 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from Grant County Attorney and former Interim Manager Abby Robinson. The two men, Adam Martinez and Tyler Cole, are believed to be members of a gang and considered dangerous.

Grant County Commissioners approve sale of bond
SILVER CITY >> Grant County commissioners approved the sale $6.2 million in bonds that will go toward a new substance abuse treatment center, and rehabbing the conference center and District Courthouse. County deputies, border patrol agents foil drug smuggling attempt
U.S. Border Patrol agents seized this truck with 300 bundles of marijuana laying flat in its bed. The bundles were concealed by 15 Mexican nationals who were being transported in the bed.

Video released of multi-county car chase in southern New Mexico
KOB has obtained video of a multi-county high speed pursuit in southern New Mexico the afternoon of August 5. Officers in Hidalgo County tried to pull over a red Honda for speeding, but instead of pulling over, the driver led multiple departments through Luna County and into Deming County at speeds of up to 120 miles per hour. State Police tried to PIT maneuver the car twice before it finally came to a stop.

Pursuit ends safely with arrest
Speeds topped over 100 mph in the late Saturday evening pursuit by Luna County Sheriff's Deputies of a Deming man. According to the LCSO report, at approximately 10:17 p.m., deputy Paul Sanchez observed Arroyo driving a black pickup truck on Gold Street at an excessive rate of speed.

Couple arrested for alleged sex crimes involving minor
A concerned family member living in Minnesota alerted Luna County Sheriff's Office Investigator Michael Brown to a month-long investigation that led to the arrest of two Deming residents on sex-related crimes involving a child and child abuse. Cameron Scott Privett, 34, has been charged with one count of criminal sexual penetration of a minor in Luna County.

Local felon escapes during high-speed chase
A local wanted felon led Deming Police and Luna County Sheriff's deputies on a high speed pursuit on Saturday evening. Gerardo Jaramillo, 19, of Deming, was spotted by a DPD officer as a passenger in a white-in-color vehicle at the intersection of Maple and Juarez streets at 7:30 p.m. Jaramillo is a well-known wanted subject by police and when the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the pursuit began.

Gold St. The September show hosted by the Deming Art Council will have a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the DAC.
