good, i'm glad, hopefully people in surrounding counties will have to pay the wheel tax too, instead of running to loudon.
the wheel tax is still bs... the roads that need fixed gets nothing, but they pave a "popular stretch of highway" thats in very good to almost perfect condition.?

Instead of A wheel tax that would double tax property owners, why not some kind of renters tax charged to the owners of rented rental properties? This could be collected from renters once a year like property tax. The owners would only be taxed if the property was rented and the tenant would pay the tax. I am having to get by without A cost of living raise, County school employees can also. But I would like to say I think Lenoir city schools do an excellent job . I will vote no on wheel tax.

I hope they don't and I think you have to prove your residence now to renew your tags, but then I may be wrong. I sure don't want to pay the additional fees... Cost enough to maintain a car these days as it is. Just me thinking out loud! ;)

Why this makes no sense at all. Didn't the commission just approve the "Yankee Tax" (adequate facilities tax)? I mean according to our ethical commissioners this was only needed because of the new people moving to town, not because of the existing residents. I mean if the housing market is down that should mean that fewer people are moving to town so this wouldn't be needed? I think the residents should ask for tapes of those commission meetings that went on a few years back. Surely our honest commissioners didnt lie? They wouldn't have placed an unfair Yankee Tax just because it was the EASIEST thing to do would they? I mean what kind of political responsiblity is that?

First of all, all of the roads in Tellico Village that are paved EXCEPT the Parkway are paid for by property owners. Every year they have to pay dues to the POA office that provides the revenue for projects such as paving, road signs, and other improvements. That being said, I spend hours every day dealing with "Villagers" and I know first hand how they feel about us and how they treat us. The sad thing is most of them live in their big houses but can't even afford to put furniture in more than 2 or 3 rooms. Look in the paper and you'll see that most people in out area being foreclosed on is Tellico Village residents. Everything they do is for show and to make the people around them feel like we're less than they are. These people will come out of the woodworks to vote for the wheel tax to keep money in their pockets and to heck with the rest of us. Try asking one of them to spend 1 penny more for something than they have to and you'll have a fight on your hands. We all have to come together and show them they are no better than we are and if our cost of living goes up, so will theirs.

Isn't that why they have PROPERTY TAX? Why create a new tax instead of just modifying the one you already have?
