The annual summer lecture sponsored by the Litchfield County Writers Project will feature a talk called 'Poems of Love, Poems of Loss' by Charles Van Doren on the life and works of Emily Dickinson.
Van Doren has written more than a dozen books and was vice president/editorial for Encyclopedia Britannica. He is a faculty member at the University of Connecticut at Torrington, where the lecture will be given.
The event, to be held Friday, also includes a poetry reading by Sally Van Doren, who has won awards for her work. Her poems have appeared in such periodicals as Boulevard, Colorado Review and LIT.
