Opelika skull now part of homicide case

Preliminary results on skeletal remains found at an Opelika trailer park last week show the person "died by homicidal means". The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences made the determination, and an official homicide investigation became active.

Opelika police find more remains near site where child's skull found

According to a release from the Opelika Police Department, approximately 20 officers and investigators of the Opelika Police Department, Auburn Police Department and Lee County Sheriff's Office went back to the area of 1700 Hurst Street to continue the investigation earlier today.

Smith Station man, woman arrested on meth charges after child brings substance to school

A Smiths Station man and woman were arrested on Jan. 26 on drug charges after a Lee County Resource Officer reported that a third-grade student at East Smith Station brought a small amount of an unknown powder substance to school, according to a report from the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
