Local teens train to work polls for Election Day
NEW CASTLE / LAWRENCE COUNTY-- Local elections officials are predicting a record turnout for the April 22Pennsylvania primary election now just a little more than a week away. Here in Lawrence County officials are predicting a 60% turnout in Mercer County the elections director says he expects a 50% turnout. In both counties, they expect the polls to be busier than ever with hundreds of newly registered voters. Poll workers will have some help on Election Day with high school students recruited to serve as poll rovers. But before these teens head to the polls to lend a hand, they undergo some Election Day training. The County Line's Aimee Gerber takes us to New Castle to see what goes on for these young people before they report for duty at an election poll near you.
