Second Knox County community to consider income tax proposal

Bicknell Mayor Jon Flickinger said the ordinance passed by the Vincennes City Council to increase the Economic Development Income Tax by .15 percent will be discussed at the Oct. 13 Bicknell City Council meeting at 7 p.m. in City Hall. Vincennes City Council's Financial Consultant Ben Roeger explained previously the proposed income tax increase would need to be approved by council's representing 51 percent of the county's population.

Vincennes City Council approves ordinance for possible income tax

The Vincennes City Council voted to approve an ordinance which could potentially impose a new income tax in Knox County. The ordinance was approved with a 5 to 2 vote after much discussion between the board members to better understand the proposal.

Knox County Council members weigh in on EDIT proposal

Knox County Council members say the income tax ordinance proposed by a member of the Vincennes City Council is not a tax adjustment, but a new tax. The Vincennes City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed adjustment of the economic development income tax Monday at 5:45 p.m. The ordinance for the EDIT proposal was presented at the Aug. 25 city council meeting, and the first reading to give the council a chance to learn more was approved with a 6 to 1 vote, with councilman Tim Salters voting against the first reading.
