Five sentenced in longtime Johnson County narcotics ring

Joanne Session Smith, 57, of Clayton, who prosecutors said was the ring leader, received 14 years. Dwayne May, 47, of Selma, who prosecutors said provided protection, also received 14 years.

Thousands of military living historians from across the country will descend on Bentonville Battlefield March 21-22, 2015, to become Confederate and Union soldiers in the last major battle reenactment in the Civil War's 150th anniversary commemoration. They will re-create one of the largest battle fought on North Carolina soil.

Highway Patrol Investigates Fatal I-40 Wreck

Two people died and two others were injured when their disabled car was rear-ended on Interstate 40 near the border between Wake and Johnston counties. The State Highway Patrol says Kevin Lamont Johnson was driving slowly in the far right westbound lane early Sunday because he had a flat tire.
