Bullets from a shooting struck the mattress on which a teen was sleeping.

A bullet came within inches of hitting a 13-year-old as he slept in his northern Ionia County home early Sunday. It happened at a home on Kiddville Road east of Belding, near the Orleans Raceway.

Motorcyclist hits road sign in Ionia County; police suspect alcohol

The man was riding south on Hubbardston Road near Nickle Plate Road around 9:49 p.m. on August 18 when he went off the road, hit the sign, and was thrown from the motorcycle.
