Michigan trial opens in death of student from Iran
Lawyers have given opening statements in the trial of a newlywed accused of killing his Iranian wife after they moved to Michigan's Upper Peninsula so she could seek an advanced engineering degree. Nima Nassiri is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Sanaz Nezami.
Nassiri trial scheduled to begin Monday
The Houghton County man charged with the death of his wife is scheduled to be in court this week. The trial for Nima Sassiri is scheduled to begin Monday.

Copper Country patients now able to be flown to outside hospitals
Hospital patients in the Keweenaw now have the ability to be flown from the Houghton County Airport to a larger hospital through Valley Med Flight's new medical air base. A fixed-wing plane is permanently stationed at the airport to lifeline patients from Copper Country hospitals to outside hospitals like Marquette General, the Mayo Clinic, Minneapolis, and Ann Arbor.

Jail inmate walks away from work crew
Police are on the lookout for a Houghton County Jail inmate who walked away from a work assignment. Kevin Michael Anderson, 26, was working with a brushing crew at the Houghton County Airport when he walked into the woods at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Missing 35-year-old Isaac Uno Laplander has been found in Houghton County. HOUGHTON COUNTY -- According to the Michigan State Police Calumet Post, Laplander was located by some neigbors in a swamp in the area.
