TDOT to close part of I-81 for emergency repairs in E. TN

TDOT will close the northbound side of I-81 for 24 hours this weekend, and the southbound side for 24 hours next weekend to make emergency bridge repairs to the span that crosses U.S. 11E at exit 23 in Greene County.

Greene County sheriff's deputies are investigating the shooting deaths Sunday of a man and a woman at an Oasis Road residence as a possible murder-suicide. Greene County Sheriff Steve Burns this morning identified the victims as Johnny Heck, Jr., 50, of 2003 Oasis Road, and Elizabeth Powell, 44, of Gilbreath Road.
