ISP: No merit to claims against Kane officer

Illinois State Police have declined to launch a formal investigation of a Kane police officer who residents had accused of threatening to "shoot up Village Hall." State Police officials said the allegations against Delbert Gilliam, the part-time police officer for the Greene County village, appear to be without merit.

Family of jail suicide victim settles suit

A lawsuit filed in December 2006 against Greene County and its Sheriff's Department by family members of a jail inmate who hanged himself has been settled for $20,000. Chelsea Murphy and Tabitha Barnes filed the lawsuit shortly before the one-year anniversary of their father's November 2005 suicide in the Greene County Jail in Carrollton.
