Officials in western Montana say a Tennessee woman was struck and killed by a tree while she and her son were cutting down dead trees around a family cabin.

Man convicted in 1981 homicide possessed guns

A 62-year-old Anaconda man who was convicted of mitigated deliberate homicide in Granite County in 1981 has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison for possessing several firearms.

Charge filed over water meeting punch dismissed

Prosecutors in Granite County have dismissed a felony aggravated assault charge filed against a 73-year-old Butte man after evidence showed he acted in self-defense when he punched another man during a Georgetown Lake water and sewer district board meeting.
