Free bicycle helmets to be handed out

In partnership with the Texas Medical Association Foundation, the Lubbock, Crosby, Garza County Medical Society Alliance will sponsor a "Hard Hats for Little Heads" bicycle give-away at the Hero's Health and Safety Day on Saturday at Clapp Park, 46th Street and Avenue U. Severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 11 p.m.; tennis-ball-size hail possible

Law enforcement in Post reported high winds and hail as large as baseballs in the area at 6:25 p.m., but the storm was heading out.
