A Ferrum business was destroyed by fire this morning. Underwood's Custom Kitchens near the intersection of Franklin and Skillet roads is deemed a total loss after the fire, which started in the attic, said Franklin County Fire Marshal Bennie Russell.

Fire burns cabinet shop in Ferrum

VDOT says both lanes of Route 40 westbound have been re-opened. Billy Ferguson with Franklin County's Department of Public Safety tells our crew on the scene that the fire sparked in a duct at Underwood's Custom Kitchens, around 8:30 a.m. Ferguson added that six employees were inside when the fire started, and none are seriously hurt.
