Mosquitoes in Sugar Land test positive for West Nile virus

The City of Sugar Land has confirmed the presence of West Nile virus at mosquito traps located in the Sugar Land Business Park and the Sugar Creek subdivision. The City increased mosquito spraying to twice per week this summer and has been working closely with the Texas Department of State Health Services to trap and test mosquitoes for the presence of the West Nile virus.

Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers - Home Depot Robbery [PHOTOS]

Fort Bend County Crimes Stoppers, Inc. will pay a cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect in a Robbery case that occurred at a Home Depot. At about 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the Home Depot, located in the 10400 block of State Highway 6 South in the Sugar land area regarding a man who had stolen an Echo "Edgers" model weed trimmer.

FBCSO looks for men who robbed same house twice

Libraries hold free "SAT" Practice-Test Sessions for college-bound students

Representatives from Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions will conduct free SATA practice-test sessions at several locations in the Fort Bend County library system in October. The SAT test is a college-entrance exam used by U.S. colleges to assess high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work, as well as to determine admissions and award scholarships and grants.

Deputies: Home burglary suspects caught on camera at pawn shop

Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office deputies say they were called to a home in the 3300 block of Sage Terrace Lane on Aug. 21. Deputies say suspects entered the house and stole jewelry, computers, photographic equipment, and musical instruments between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. They also stole a 2010 blue Infiniti G37 that was parked in the garage. Detectives say they discovered that the two suspects later tried to pawn some of the items at a pawn shop.

Creekstone parents concerned about their kids walking to Elkins High

Three hundred and eighty-parents in the Creekstone Village subdivision - which is located in unincorporated Fort Bend County - signed a petition to restore Fort Bend ISD bus service between their homes and Elkins High School. State law requires that students living more than two miles away from a campus are provided with bus service, provided there are no safety issues.

Two of those operations were in Fort Bend County, near Houston, while the other two were farther east in Polk County. In three of those four cases, landowners or hunters found the illegal crop sites and reported them to law enforcement.
