Ford County looking to expand jail capacity

PAXTON – Just as its jail bonds were paid off this year, Ford County may be looking to put nearly $1 million into a renovation of the facility in order to board more prisoners.

Although a Will County judge recently gave a Paxton woman probation in an animal abuse case, he's changed his mind.

ROBERTS – One week after a rural Thawville couple were arrested for allegedly growing more than 2,000 cannabis plants in Iroquois County, another substantial marijuana-growing operation has been discovered, this time in Ford County.

PAXTON – Resurfacing four miles of blacktop known as the Elliott Road, between Illinois 9 and the Champaign County line could begin within the next six weeks, according to Ford County Highway Engineer Greg Perkinson.
