Deputies: Bunnell man shoots self in attempt to avoid jail

A 22-year-old Bunnell man accused of beating his older brother because of an apparent love triangle shot himself in an attempt to avoid going to jail, according to a Flagler County sheriff's report.

Angel Vega Roman, a 28-year-old Florida man, was arrested Sunday and charged with cruelty to animals after allegedly biting the lips off of a kitten and strangling another feline.

Deputies: Man bit lips off kitten

According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, Roman told an acquaintance that he accidentally choked his roommates' kitten a couple of weeks ago and bit the lips off another black and white kitten named Oreo.A Roman also tortured Oreo by burning its ear and whiskers with a lighter, a sheriff's report stated.
