Cat That Attacked 5 Tests Positive For Rabies
Five Hurlock residents are receiving medical treatment following attacks by an aggressive cat that was later determined to be rabid.
The Dorchester County Health Department says the cat bit three people and scratched two others in a series of attacks that began Friday. The cat was captured Sunday.
Health officials say the five people are receiving rabies vaccinations.
Authorities say the rabies virus can cause brain disorders and death.
The cat was the third rabid animal captured in the county this year. County residents are advised to avoid contact with stray animals. Read more
