Clark County, Ky., resident preserves stories of veterans [Online Extra]
<![CDATA[WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) -- A Clark County resident is making sure the stories of American veterans aren't forgotten. According to the Winchester Sun, Don Rose interviews area veterans for the Veterans History Project, which is backed by the American Folklife Center and seeks to preserve the personal accounts of veterans for future generations. Rose recently surpassed 200 interviews. Once completed, two copies are made of the interview. One goes to the local library and another goes to the veteran's family. The original is sent to the Library of Congress, which Rose said has started making the interviews available online. The project prefers combat veterans, but Rose said he will interview any willing veterans. "We'll still do it because they put that uniform on and they said, 'I am declaring myself as willing to put myself on the line for my country,' " he said. "And that counts too."
