Chowan County News

Since my 1946 fall semester at Mars Hill Junior College, where I met Joyce Harrell of Edenton, I have made many trips to Chowan County – during the four years before our marriage and during our marriage of 60 years.

Architectural historian Thomas Butchko's final work, "Between the River and the Sound," a book detailing Chowan County architecture and history, is now available for purchase locally.

There were several Jones families in the early settlement ofCravenCounty. The Jones family in this column was associated with the Simmons family at an early date.

Caston was 14 and it was clear that she was on track to become a musical force to be reckoned with.
