Taking a look at teacher salaries in Western New York

Teachers in Chautauqua County make more annually than those in neighboring Cattaraugus County, but not as much as Erie County educators. Numbers for the 2012-13 school year recently released by SeeThroughNY, a database of information sponsored by the Empire Center for Public Policy, show figures for median teacher salaries for all schools in New York state.

Cattaraugus County helps seniors receive HEAP

The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging will be assisting individuals age 60 and over with HEAP applications. Senior citizens in Cattaraugus County who received a regular HEAP benefit last HEAP season will receive an application by mail this year.

Results from area primaries

Registered Independent voters in Cattaraugus County were able to vote for a delegate to the 8th Judicial District Convention for the 148th Assembly District. Receiving 78 votes was Edward Christopher, Tracey Ehlers received 23 votes and there were two write-in votes, according to unofficial results.
