BankUnited files plans for new South Florida branch

BankUnited wants to open a new branch in Fort Lauderdale. The Miami Lakes-based bank filed plans with regulators to open a branch at 1815 East Commercial Blvd. It's several blocks west of U.S. 1. The bank currently has 22 offices in Broward County, including three in Fort Lauderdale.
