School nurse resigns, may face drug charges

A sheriff's investigator said this week more information will be collected before a decision is made on criminal charges against a school nurse who allegedly took controlled drugs from the Fraser Hospital emergency room, where she is also employed.

Commissioners sign pact for house arrest program

The county's expanded house arrest program, expected to save more than $270,000 for taxpayers annually, will begin operating next month under the management of Baker Community Counseling Services [BCCS], the local nonprofit that also oversees court-mandated drug counseling.

County cements daily rate for local inmates

For more than four months now the county has been paying the Baker Correctional Development Corporation $84.72 per day to house each local inmate at the sheriff's complex, even though a contract for such services didn't exist.

Teen arrested for sending sexual video, photos

Assistant State Attorney Ralph Yazdiya said this week that if the 17-year-old Baker County High School student accused of sending a Central Florida man sexually explicit photos and video of herself is indeed charged, she will not be prosecuted as an adult.
