The Baca County town of Walsh, in conjunction with the Colorado Tree Coalition and Colorado State Forest Service, recently planted more than 150 trees after receiving a $1,500 grant to help reforest the community following a devastating 2011 wildfire.

Tornadoes hit near Lamar, Colorado overnight sending two residents to the hospital, causing damage to nearly a dozen buildings and knocking out power to multiple towns in the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for north central Baca County and south central Prowers County until 5:15 p.m. The severe thunderstorm warning for Bent and Kiowa counties have been canceled.

The combination of ample moisture and an approaching disturbance will likely lead to scattered thunderstorms by mid-late afternoon.
