Suffield Man Arraigned On Sexual Assault Charges
A local man was arraigned today on sexual assault charges after he turned himself in on a warrant that says he had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl, police said.
Christopher Lafreniere, 43, of 106 First St., is charged with second-degree sexual assault of a victim under 16, fourth-degree sexual assault of a victim under 16 and two counts of risk of injury to a minor. He posted $100,000 bail after his arrest and is scheduled to appear in court again on July 31.
Police became involved when a therapist treating the girl notified social workers.
Lafreniere knew the girl at the time of the relationship, and the assaults occurred between January and April of 2006, police said. A judge in Superior Court in Enfield ordered Lafreniere to have no contact with the girl.
