Boy struck while riding bike in Sellersville
A 12-year-old Philadelphia boy was listed in stable condition today at Lehigh Valley Hospital, two days after being hit by a car while bicycling across a Sellersville street.
Wilson Alequin was crossing Main Street at Park Avenue when he was hit about 3:25 p.m. Tuesday, police said. He was thrown from his bike, and suffered a large bump on the back of his head and many cuts , police said.
Perkasie Police Chief Joseph Gura said authorities have yet to determine who had the right-of-way at the intersection. The driver, Danica Schwegel, 34, of East Market St., Perkasie, has not been cited, he said.
'It all depends on what evidence we get,' Gura said.
He said Schwegel told police 'he rode right out in front of her.'
Alequin, who was visiting relatives in the area, was going in and out of consciousness when police arrived, Gura said. He was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call Perkasie police at 215-257-6876.
