Pembroke Pines cruiserweight Elieser Castillo will tune up for next month's title fight tonight on the Ballroom Boxing II pro card at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens.
The Cuban left-hander (30-6-2, 17 KOs) will fight Ghana's Aloryi Moyoyo Mensah in an eight-round main event. Mensah (14-5, 8 KOs) now trains in London.
Thirty-six days later, Castillo is scheduled to fight Adam Harris in a 12-round WBC Latino cruiserweight title fight at the James L. Knight Center in Miami. His brother, Eliseo, will join him on the card.
Castillo will again have 1976 Olympic gold medalist Howard Davis Jr. of American Top Team Coconut Creek working his corner. They are 1-0 together. Davis Jr. will also work his son's corner.
Dyah Ali Davis (11-1, 6 KOs) of Coral Springs returned from training in Las Vegas with Floyd Mayweather Sr. He is currently training with his father and 1976 Olympic silver medalist Charles Moody at ATT.
Undefeated super-middleweight Ibaheim King (4-0) of Palm Beach Boxing heads the undercard. Stablemates Kasim Howard (7-0), Abi Santizzo (9-2) and Ray Betancourt (5-3) were also expected to fight, along with other locals Dieuly Artistilde of West Palm Beach and Erik Leander of Boca Raton.
It is the second card that Stuart-based promoter Moe Malacarne has staged in the grand ballroom he hopes will turn into a mecca for local boxers and trainers.
Elsewhere Heavyweight J.D. Chapman of Davie (29-0, 26 KOs), ranked No. 8 in the WBO and No. 10 in the WBA, will fight Moultrie Witherspoon on Saturday. Chapman trains at Contenders Gym in Fort Lauderdale.
