PharmaThene gets more funding for anthrax drug
PharmaThene Inc., an Annapolis company that develops countermeasures against biological and chemical threats, said this morning that the Department of Defense fiscal 2008 budget includes up to $1.6 million for development of its anthrax antitoxin Valortim. The drug is being developed with New Jersey-based Medarex Inc.
The federal government has pledged an additional $23 million in the last four fiscal years to develop Valortim, the company said.
PharmaThene shares closed at $3.87 on the American Stock Exchange yesterday.
