Coupeville Town Council approves 6-year transportation plan
COUPEVILLE, Washington (STPNS) -- The Coupeville Town Council approved the town's six-year transportation improvement plan Tuesday, July 22. All projects depend on external funding.
The plan is essentially the blueprint for transportation improvements from 2009 to 2014. The state requires the plan be updated every year by the end of July.
The plan calls for improvements to the road base and resurfacing of Front Street, NW Seventh Street, NW Eighth Street and Madrona Way. Madrona Way also is marked for water and sewer infrastructure improvements.
The plan calls for NW Fourth Street to be extended to connect North Main Street and Broadway, and sidewalks are planned for the east side of South Main Street and the south side of NW Coveland Street.
The intersection of NE Ninth and Leach is to be realigned with pedestrian paths. The plan also identifies the need to connect Coupeville and Island County pedestrian trails on both the north and south sides of Hwy. 20.
