WESTBROOK, Minnesota (STPNS) -- Auguste "Gustie" Anderson
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church south of Walnut Grove. Visitation will be held from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Interment is in the church cemetery. Email condolences may be sent via www.walnutgrovefuneralhome.com.
Gustie Ellen (Bedwell) Anderson, 88 of Westbrook, formerly of Revere, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Sanford Westbrook Hospital.
Gustie was born December 17, 1919 to James & Hazel (Folsom) Bedwell at their home in Minneapolis. She was confirmed into the Lutheran faith in June, 1938. Gustie graduated from Roosevelt High School on January 27, 1939. After graduation she worked in Minneapolis and California for 15 years. On June 20, 1954, Gustie was united in marriage to Earl Anderson at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. After the wedding, the couple moved to the family farm in Ann Township where they raised their three daughters. Family time with their children and grandchildren brought great joy to her. Gustie loved her winters in Arizona with her husband. After Earl's death, Gustie became a resident of Peterson Estates in Westbrook, and later the Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church where she served on the WELCA, and as a Sunday School teacher.
She was a former member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Gustie was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood, and was active in the Garden Club and as a 4-H leader. Gustie enjoyed flower gardening, crafts, playing cards and spending time with family.
Survivors include her daughters: Kari (Duane) Ourada of Tracy, Lori (George) Erbes of Tracy and Heidi (David) Hansen of Revere; grandchildren: Tony (Dawn) Ourada of Brandon, SD, Melissa (Mike) Ebbing of Garretson, SD, Andy (Jackie) Ourada of Redwood Falls, Mike (Missie) Erbes of Tracy, Amanda (Tim) Nichols of Atlanta, GA, Alex (Lindsay) Ourada of Mankato, and Tyler Hansen of Marshall; and great grandchildren: Lincoln, Austin, Jonathon, Allison, Brian, Zach, and Hailyn.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Earl, and brothers Herb and John Bedwell.
Vernice Erline Gertner
Funeral services were held for Vemice Erline Gertner Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church, Westbrook, MN. Pastor Roy Williams officated. Interment was held at the Westbrook Cemetery.
Vemice, 84, died Wednesday, April 23,2008, Good Samaritan Center in Windom, MN.
Vernice Erline Gertner was born October 30, 1923 to Carl and Anna (Mischke) Wahl in Rosehill Township, Cottonwood County near Westbrook, MN. She was baptized at her home on December 2, 1923 and later confirmed on September 5, 1937 at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook, now known as Grace Lutheran.
She received her education attending Country School District #29 in Murray County and later District #34 in Cottonwood County, where she graduated from the 8th grade, along with Reuben Gertner whom she later married. She attended Westbrook High School, graduating with the class of 1942. Following graduation, Vernice lived in Minneapolis and worked in St. Paul at the Ford Motor War Plant during World War II.
On March 27, 1946 she married Reuben Gertner in Mankato, MN. They made their home in Rosehill Township where they farmed for 43 years. Vemice was also employed at the Ben Franklin Store in Windom for 13 years. In 1989, they moved to their retirement home in Westbrook.
Vemice was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she participated in church activities. She enjoyed flower arranging, crafts, reading, baking, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family. Vemice also enjoyed music and dancing in her younger years.
Following Reuben's death on August 19, 1999, Vemice continued to make her home in Westbrook where she resided until November of 2007 when she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Windom, MN.
Survivors include her sisters, Eunice Erpestad, Windom, MN and Coralyn Comnick, Westbrook, MN; nephews, nieces, grandnephews and nieces, and many friends.
Preceeding her in death were her parents, husband Reuben, brother Leon and brothers-in-law William Erpestad and Ronald Comnick.
