Nelmina 'Nel' Vanden Bosch
HULL, Iowa (STPNS) -- Nelmina "Nel" Vanden Bosch, 72, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley. Burial was held at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. The Rev. Al Kuiper and the Rev. Mark Beernink officiated.
Nelmina Haan was born October 30, 1935, near Luverne, Minn., daughter of Jake and Gertrude (Scheer) Haan. Nel graduated from the Hills High School. She married Marvin Vanden Bosch on April 7, 1954, at Hills, Minn. For 14 months Nel stayed home with 2 infants while Marv served in our military in Japan. After Marv returned, they lived in Rock Valley where she was a homemaker until her last child entered school, then she was a cook at Valley Manor before Marv needed care at home. Nel enjoyed baking, flower gardening, caring for others with cards, food, care packages, but most of all spending time with family.
Nelmina is survived by her husband, Marv; 3 sons, Gary (Deb) Vanden Bosch of Clear Lake, John (Bev) Vanden Bosch of Rock Valley, Greg (Teresa) Vanden Bosch of Hull; 4 daughters, Von (Doug) Postma, Pam (Dennis) DeJager, and Carol (Mike) Bonestroo all of Rock Valley, Sharla (Brent) DeBoef of Hockessin, Del.; 26 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Richard Haan of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and Peter (Alice) Haan of Brandon, S.D.; brothers-in-law, Elmer Boon and Leonard Vanden Bosch both of Rock Valley; sisters-in-law, Nina (Marvin) Bolkema of Sheldon and Loraine (Hilbert) Vande Kamp of Rock Valley.
Nelmina was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Gertrude; sister, Fanny Mae Boon (11 days earlier); and sister-in-law, Pat Haan.
