Catron Deputies Get Tasers
SOCORRO, New Mexico (STPNS) -- Catron County Sheriff's deputies were issued Tasers on May 8 after they completed training conducted by the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department.
The training included getting shot by a Taser, which sticks prongs into a suspect and gives that person an electric shock.
"I immediately felt the jolt. It was no fun," said Under-Sheriff Ian Fletcher.
Fletcher said the Tasers will serve as valuable tools when arresting non-compliant suspects.
"This will be a very effective compliance tool," deputy Jimmy Jaramillo said.
