Meet Your Neighbor
BERNICE, Louisiana (STPNS) -- This week The Banner would like to introduce you to Ashley Bowman and Logan Puckett.
These two individuals were honored Saturday, March 15th to be able to present trophies to the 1st & 2nd place teams during the 1st Annual Jon Eric Bowman Memorial Tournament.
The tournament will be held each year at Summerfield High School in honor of a fallen hero. Jon Eric Bowman was a graduate of Summerfield High School who lost his life in Iraq during this long war. He loved baseball so much and I know he is smiling big right now watching all of this.
Summerfield High has never had a baseball tournament due to not having lights on the field. After Jon Eric was killed his father's place of employment Noble Drilling Co. donated the lights and poles in his honor. The field shown with lots of light Friday & Saturday night during the tournament.
A dedication cermony will be held Saturday, March 29th during the baseball game. The field will be named 'Bowman Field'.
When the games were over Summerfield High baseball team come in 3rd place, Parker's Chapel was 2nd and Sarepta was 1st. Ashley Bowman and Logan Puckett two of Jon Eric's siblings had the honor of passing out the trophies after the games were over.
We love and miss you Jon Eric.
