Rise In New York Construction Deaths is Unacceptable, Says New York Attorney

After decreasing for a decade, on-the-job fatalities on New York construction sites increased last year, from 81 deaths in 2007 to 90 deaths in 2008. Steven J. Across the country, work site deaths decreased by more than 10 percent from 2007 to 2008, and the number of fatal falls was down by more than 20 percent.
