Paradise Ranch, Wyoming: Discounts Continue and Cowboy Fantasies Come True

- For Clay and Leah Miller, owners and operators of Paradise Ranch in northern Wyoming, tough times can be as much a part of ranching as sun, rain and wind. The current recessive economy has stimulated the hospitality and travel industries to be creative in their products and pricing, and a week-long stay at a dude ranch like Paradise Ranch is no exception.

'It's no surprise that the booking lead time this summer is extremely short, 'Leah Miller has observed. 'In the past, our guests would book a year to six months prior to arrival. This year, it's more like a month to a week prior. As families are discovering cheap airfares, they are also looking for as much play for the pay as possible. We have guests from North Carolina who booked yesterday for next week when they found a good airfare into Billings, Montana. After a week here at the Ranch, they will also road trip around to explore the region before returning home. The savings here this year are substantial and our specials have been very successful.' Paradise Ranch had announced discounts of up to 50% earlier in June.

Even though the cost of a week's stay, literally in Paradise, has come down, nothing about the authentic western experience has been changed. A stay at the 102 year old guest ranch will include horses, cattle, chuck wagons, hiking, camping overnights, optional team penning lessons and fishing at clear high-alpine lakes. And those are just some of the activities for adults.

For children, there is all-day entertainment that includes games, crafts, nature hikes, pony rides, overnight campouts, field trips off the Ranch, and Chicken Day, where it's child against chicken before the morning rides. All of these running and playing activities take place in wide open spaces, breathing clean mountain air. It's also a chance to learn about Native American culture and ranching customs.

'We have the same staff as any normal year,' said Clay Miller, 'and that has allowed us to make this year's ranch experience even more personal for our guests.'

The discount schedule for the remainder of the summer is:

30% between July 1-July 26 (saving up to $593/adult and $555/child ages 6-12)
10% between July 26-August 9 (saving up to $198/adult and $185/child ages 6-12)
30% between August 9-August 16 (saving up to $396/adult and $370/child ages 6-12)
10% between August 16-August 26 (saving up to $165/adult and $155/child ages 6-12)
