Sunny weather headed this way
The National Weather Service is predicting sunny skies for this weekend.
Saturday through Monday are expected to be mostly sunny, with a chance of showers Sunday night. Temperatures will range from the high 30s to high 60s.
The Kaskaskia River at Carlyle Lake remains 2 feet above flood level, according to the National Weather Service. The Army Corps of Engineers says minor flooding is possible in coming days downstream from Carlyle and Rend lakes.
A corps representative said water-control experts monitor the lake levels closely and will work to adjust discharges if levels continue to rise.
The corps will work closely with emergency management officials to ensure public safety and minimize property damage, the representative said.
No flooding is reported in Grafton and Alton.
For April, the metro-east has received 0.61 of an inch of rain, according to the weather center at Scott Air Force Base.
Southern Illinois had its third wettest March in history, with 9.47 inches of precipitation, according to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
