No major wrecks in Manatee, Sarasota
With no major accidents reported, traffic in Manatee and Sarasota counties was moving normally as of 8 a.m. this morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
In Manatee County, FHP reported a vehicle crash around 7:10 a.m. on Moccasin Wallow Road and U.S. 41, north of Palmetto. There were no injuries and no road blockage.
The southbound exit ramp of Interstate 75 to Gibsonton Road south of Brandon in Hillsborough County was blocked due to an accident at around 7:10 a.m. No injuries were reported.
On the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, traffic may still be backed up due to one of two lanes in either direction being closed overnight on the main span of the bridge. Crews are painting the bridge stays from 7:30 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. nightly until further notice. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph during the lane closures.
Also in Pinellas County, one to two lanes (of three lanes) will be closed on northbound or southbound Interstate 275 between 26th Avenue South and Fifth Avenue South between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. through Thursday. There may also be periodic ramp closures during this period and traffic will be detoured to the next interchange.
One of three lanes will be closed on northbound or southbound I-275 in the same area between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. through Friday (March 10-14).
In Hillsborough County, crews were completing the opening of one lane on northbound George Bean Parkway, the inbound road to Tampa International Airport, which was closed over night for construction.
Also, if heading to the Tampa airport after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, the right lane of northbound I-275 and Exit 39A to the airport (State Road 60 east/Kennedy Boulevard) will be closed from 11:30 p.m. Wednesday until 4:30 a.m. Thursday to allow road construction crews to install temporary barrier wall. Traffic will be detoured
Exit 39B will also be closed. Traffic to the airport and State Road 60 east will be detoured to Exit 39A. To get to the airport, go east on Kennedy Boulevard, then north on Westshore Boulevard, then west on Spruce Street to westbound State Road 60, Memorial Highway.
