Go dancing, or check in with Britney
Dancing With the Stars is probably the big thing tonight, but you never know, considering that Britney Spears is guest-starring on a rival sitcom.
Stuff to watch or record
House: If you're looking for Canterbury's Law -- and judging from its ratings, you're not -- Fox announced last week that it was moving the Julianna Margulies legal drama to Fridays, which on Fox is practically the next thing to canceling a series. In its place is this House repeat, in which House (Hugh Laurie) cares for, and relates to, an autistic 10-year-old boy. 7 p.m., KDFW/Channel 4
Dancing With the Stars: It's week two, and this season's first week with a results show. I'm not claiming to actually be watching this, but I hear that the guys -- especially Adam Carolla and Penn Jillette -- didn't do so well in their first turns around the floor last week. 7 p.m., WFAA/
Channel 8
Greek: This frat/sorority house comedy-drama with has a heavy Texas connection: Patrick Sean Smith, the creator, is from Decatur and based the show on his experiences at the University of Texas, while Jack McDorman and Scott Michael Foster, who play rival frat boys, are both from Dallas-Fort Worth. Season two begins with the awkward Rusty (Jacob Zachar) and his more refined sister Casey (Spencer Grammer, Kelsey's daughter) returning to school and dealing with romantic setbacks from last season. Plain White T's perform. 7 p.m., ABC Family
How I Met Your Mother: If your tolerance for Britney Spears isn't long past its breaking point, you'll want to check out this much-buzzed-about episode in which Spears plays a dermatologist's receptionist who becomes infatuated with Ted (Josh Radnor). Scrubs' Sarah Chalke plays the dermatologist, whom Ted is pursuing. Much less paparazzi risk there! 7:30 p.m., KTVT/Channel 11
Two and a Half Men: Speaking of infatuated -- OK, obsessed -- sitcom characters, Charlie's goofy stalker Rose (Melanie Lynskey) returns and takes care of a sick Charlie (Charlie Sheen). Have either of these people seen Misery? 8 p.m., KTVT/Channel 11
Frontline: The provocatively titled Bush's War, which airs in two parts, begins tonight. The program is a history of the 5-year-old Iraq War, featuring new and archival reporting. 8 p.m., KERA/Channel 13
I Survived ... As you probably discerned from the title, this new nonfiction series features people who survived life-threatening situations, such as being nearly buried alive by a freak blizzard. 8 p.m., Biography Channel (Charter Channel 242, Time Warner 205, Direct 266, Dish 119, FIOS 109, U-Verse 272)
World Poker Tour: The cult hit begins its sixth season on a new network, with a new hostess in Layla Kayleigh. 8 p.m., GAME
CSI: Miami: The series begins its post-writers-strike run of new episodes with an episode in which a murder takes place at a wedding, and that somehow leads the investigators to a strip club. No, really, they have to be there. It's for their jobs. Honest, honey ... 9 p.m., KTVT/Channel 11
Medium: Sarah Drew, who was so charming as shy Hannah on Everwood, plays a kidnapped young woman who haunts Allison's dreams in the first half of a two-parter, during which Allison (Rosanna Arquette) also discovers that investigator Cynthia (Anjelica Huston) is harboring a secret. 9 p.m., KXAS/Channel
The Hills: MTV's popular 'docusoap' returns for a third season, which will begin with Lauren and Whitney taking a trip to Paris on behalf of Teen Vogue. There are hills there too, right? 9 p.m., MTV
