Pancake benefit
Cub Scout Pack No. 271 will sponsor a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Gashland United Methodist Church, 7715 N. Oak Trafficway in Kansas City, North.
The event, which is open to the public, will include a silent auction. Admission is $5 per person; children ages 5 and younger are admitted free.

Retired school employees
The Clay-Platte Area Retired School Employees Association will meet at 1:30 p.m. April 1 at the Kansas City North Community Center, 3930 N.E. Antioch Road.
Admission is open to all retired employees of public school districts and private schools from Clay and Platte counties.
The meeting will include a program on container gardening, presented by Mary Woods.

Soroptimists
The Soroptimist Club of the Northland will have its spring social event at 5:30 p.m. April 3 at the home of Barbara Palmisano.
In addition, the club will have its regular business meeting at 11:30 a.m. April 16 at the First Watch Restaurant in North Kansas City.

Art league
The Northland Art League will meet at 7:30 p.m. April 3 in the lounge at Fairview Christian Church, 1800 N.E. 65th St. in Gladstone.
The group is open to all aspiring and professional artists who want to learn new techniques. Admission is free; refreshments will be served.
The meeting will include a program on jewelry-making presented by Rosalie Phillips and Rosalie Baxter.
